Nate Kotila, part-time aisle ambassador at the Papillion, Nebraska, Hy-Vee, started with the store a year ago. He’s also a college student working toward an Associate’s Degree in Video/Audio Communication Art.
One of his college courses, “Moving Image Lab,” recently required him to create a video documentary. He started with one idea, but quickly changed his mind.
“Everyone speaks so often about Hy-Vee’s world-class customer service and how much they love working at Hy-Vee,” Kotila said. “I felt like I could capture that.”
Kotila spent hours interviewing a variety of Hy-Vee employees, asking about their jobs and why they enjoy working at Hy-Vee. Then he compiled their stories to create his documentary.
“I love being able to serve our customers by greeting them in the aisles and helping them find exactly what they are looking for,” Kotila said. “Through this documentary, I wanted to capture a little bit of that passion in others, as well as the history and culture of Hy-Vee.”
Kotila also started a side business – Roll Film Productions – and is creating videos for small business owners. He hopes to expand and someday create and edit videos for clients anywhere in the world.
