It was beautiful.
The Gordon Plaza Hy-Vee in Sioux City, Iowa, hosted a Sidewalk Chalk Art event on May 4 and 5. The goal was to transform the store’s parking lot into a colorful street museum.
Participants were invited to captivate Hy-Vee shoppers as they took to the pavement armed with vivid chalk colors. Eleven artists spent hours on their hands and knees working on their colorful creations.
The weather cooperated and the designs were eye-catching. The Little Mermaid took first place, the Sioux City design took second, and the Sonic design – created by a talented 10-year-old – came in third place.
“Kids and adults both took part in this fun event and our customers loved it. The creativity ran wild,” said Erin Jefferis, human resource manager at the Gordon Plaza Hy-Vee.
