The Rochester North Hy-Vee hosted a Touch-A-Truck event on September 11. Kids had the chance to get up close and personal with big trucks, public safety vehicles and a race car. First responders, law enforcement and community members were on hand to chat with the kids.
The festival-like atmosphere featured fresh grilled food hot off the grill and a dunk tank giving people a chance to dunk local celebrities, including Store Director Chad Thacker. Dunk tank proceeds and a portion of the grill sales benefited the Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation of Southeast Minnesota. More than 600 people attended, and $2,464 was raised in just three hours.
“Our showstopper was the Mayo One helicopter landing in our parking lot,” said Sarah Thacker, marketing coordinator for the Rochester Hy-Vee store. “This was an immensely successful event that helped us achieve a 13.2 percent increase for the day. The community involvement was inspiring and we are all looking forward to hosting this event next year.”
