The Kansas City-area Hy-Vee stores are putting a new, heartfelt twist on an old promotion. In years past, the “Airstream Giveaway” – which is a one-of-a-kind experience at the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium – was randomly selected from customers who had entered in-store. But this year, the first five game experiences are being donated to families benefitting from Hy-Vee’s core charities. The last two games will be customer nominated.
“Surprising our first family, selected by the Variety Children’s Charity, was such a special experience,” said Shelby Summerville, marketing director for the Kansas City-area Hy-Vee stores. “The family had never been to a Chiefs game before and they were shocked and honored.”
The recipient was Devin, a 14-year-old from Gladstone, and his family.
The Airstream experience includes watching the Chiefs game from a private Airstream trailer, located inside of Arrowhead Stadium in the Hy-Vee Hot Zone. It is essentially a 50-yard-line view. The experience is fully catered and features TVs, heated blankets for the cold games, leather spacious seats, and a host who is there to make sure everything exceeds expectations.
Just last night, the second Airstream Giveaway recipient, the Enos family, was selected through the Ronald McDonald House charity. The family of seven will attend the Chief’s October 2 game.
